Peace in a Crazy World

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”   Colossians 3:15

Isn’t it nice when you realise that we aren’t meant to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.   I must say that since going back to church and rededicating my life to God, something has happened to me.  Something good.

I admit that I am a bit of a control freak.  I don’t like giving up the concept of control.   I would pray about situations and then physically hold onto the issue.   How can God help us, when we pray and then refuse to give the situation or the person, to God.   How can God do anything with that?   He can’t.   We actually have to release the issue into God’s hands.   The only way we can live in a state of peace – despite the craziness of the world we live in, is to allow God to be the centre of our universe.    This is the only way ‘the peace of Christ’ can live in our hearts.   We have to exercise our faith muscle and hand over our issues.   And then we thank God for all He does in our lives.    I have discovered that gratitude is a vital part of having peace in our hearts.

One really great way to keep track of all God is doing in our lives is to keep a ‘pray and gratitude’ diary.   Some people write down their prayers, and then as they come to pass they write down their answers to prayer.   Others have a gratitude journal.  They  write 3 to 5 things in their journal each day of things they are grateful for.     I don’ think there are any hard and fast rules…..but journaling is a great idea.   How do you feel about journalling?
